The FTC is here to protect consumer’s rights but consumers can also ensure that they get the best value on their spending and are not taken advantage of. If consumers are informed, they should be confident about their purchases. We want to be consumers to be the drivers of competition in the market, be proactive in not settling for the cheapest or most convenient but compare the prices of goods and services with the quality expected. This will raise the standards of goods and services in the market. In light of this, along with the legal department, a Consumer Guide is being drafted. The Guide features the various provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2010, highlighting consumer rights as well as responsibilities. It gives useful tips and aims to answer the frequently asked questions. The Consumer Guide will also be translated in Creole and is expected to be published by end of year 2018.
