The Fair Trading Commission Act was enacted on the 3rd November 2009 to provide for the establishment of the Fair Trading Commission with objectives to promote efficiency and competitiveness among and improve the standards of service, quality of goods distributed and services supplied by business enterprises and service providers over which the FTC has jurisdiction.

The Fair Trading Commission is required under the Fair Trading Commission Act to issue rules and guidelines on the economic and legal analysis which shall be used for the determination of cases under the Fair Trading Commission Act.
